The Association for Parents and Guardians “Dać Szansę” in Wadowice was initiated on 6 November 2002 by parents and guardians of disabled children living in Wadowice and its area.

On 14 January 2003, the organisation was registered in National Court Register under number 0000146813.

On 13 April 2004 the association has received a status of public benefit organisation.

Currently, there are 213 children within our organisation aged between few months and 18 years old. We offer support to children with various disabilities, e.g. Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy and other.

Our children come from different locations around Wadowice county, i.e. Brzeźnica, Andrychów, Wysoka, Witanowice, Tomice, Chocznia, Przybradz, Spytkowice, etc.

“Give the chance” accomplishes tasks imposed by the local authorities.

The main aim of our organisation is to help disadvantaged people, very often excluded from the society, especially disabled children. They receive our guidance and support in terms of education, social care, health, etc.

Our organisational goals are met by:

• Psychological education, speech therapy which are run both individually and in groups;

• Organising and conducting therapeutical classes (individual and in groups);

• Providing to parents and carers of our children with ongoing psychological and legal advice.

• Organising various group events for parents and their children, e.g. family trips, theatre, concerts, organisation briefings with a full update, etc.

• Promoting voluntary work among young people living in Wadowice and area. This also involves working closely with local schools, church, etc.

• Educating parents in terms of preventing social pathology, promoting healthy life style and organising alternative forms of spending free time.

• Promoting our region and its tradition and culture by organising trips, contests, exhibitions, concerts.

• Publishing guidelines, booklets, brochures and magazines about our association and other similar public benefit organisations.

• Providing educational and rehabilitation services to children who are not members of our organisation and are not disabled (this service is not free of charge).

• Organising training courses and providing guidance to unemployed people or these who want to start their own business, especially those who are disabled.
